About the role
- Summary: The Denver Post is seeking a part-time breaking news reporter to work at least one weekend shift and an early morning shift.

Responsibilities
- Develop story ideas in coordination with assignment editor
- Understand and implement SEO techniques to ensure content reaches largest online audience
- Create and curate content for a dynamic web presence
- Understand and implement SEO techniques to ensure content reaches largest online audience; stay abreast of latest trends
Requirements
- The successful applicant must be able to juggle multiple assignments and make good decisions about what subjects to tackle first.
- The ability to source and monitor multiple streams of information -- from police to competitors -- is a must, as is the ability to write quick, clear, accurate and engaging stories and headlines.
- Reporting, writing and editing skills, including knowledge of AP style
- Knowledge of digital storytelling methods
- Ability to cultivate sources
- Knowledge of analytics and how to use them in decision making
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field or equivalent experience
- Ability to multi-task and work quickly to meet deadlines
- Must be willing to submit and pass the necessary required checks
Compensation
- The hourly wage is $28.68 + cell stipend and mileage reimbursement.
- Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc.
