About the role

  • Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Vice President, First-Party Construction Underwriter (Builder's Risk) as part of Sompo's Engineered Risk Business Unit.
  • The U.S. Insurance Engineered Risk practice provides first-party property coverage for both owner and contractor controlled project specific covers for Contractor All Risk, Erection All Risk and Civil infrastructure occupancies.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite complex construction projects to properly determine capacity allocation, attachment point, terms and pricing to create a diverse and profitable book of business.
  • Manage and develop producer and client relationships.
  • Develop and execute a regional marketing plan aimed at retaining existing business and producing new business.
  • Create and foster a reputation as an industry expert with peers and producers.
  • Maintain files in an orderly manner consistent with company guidelines.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with others within a team and contribute to the development of others.
  • Ability to attend industry function(s).
  • Ability to travel nationally 25% of the time

  • Bachelor's Degree with an Engineering discipline preferred

Compensation

  • $190,000.00 - $240,000.00 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
