About the role

- As an Estimator you report to the Chief Estimator and will prepare and submit estimates on behalf of Hall Constructors.
- This position contributes to the overall organization by bidding on various types of work and handing over successful bids to the project team.
Responsibilities
- Support estimating team with competent and timely work.
- Manage all takeoffs for the estimate, including assigned Intern or Project Coordinator.
- Read and understand contract documents and specifications
- Collaborate with other estimators and project coordinators to deliver a competitive bid.
- Maintain accurate bid folders by organizing all addendums, quotes, drawings, and documents.

Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
- Candidates should have a minimum of four (4) years of experience in the construction industry.
- A minimum of two (2) years of independent civil estimating experience is required in one or more of the following areas:
- Contact with clients, subcontractors, and vendors will also be required and the utmost professionalism is expected during these interactions.
- Must demonstrate excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Underground Municipal Utilities
- Underground Third-Party Utilities
- Excavation and Shoring
- Piling and Foundation Improvements
- Subdivision and/or Townhouse Developments
- Paving and Concrete Flatwork
- Civil Structures
- Post-secondary education in Engineering or a related field is preferred (Bachelor's degree an asset).
Skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Teams, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Skilled in Bluebeam for markups and quantity takeoff processes.
- Experienced with HCSS HeavyBid, Hall's current estimating software.
- Solid Understanding of the full estimating cycle, from quantity takeoff through submission to contract award.
- Strong document organization and file management abilities.
- Typing speed of 50 WPM with 95% accuracy.
- Proficient in performing accurate quantity takeoffs for a range of civil scopes, including:
- Earthworks - cut and fill, road cross-sections, retaining wall, bulk/detail excavation.
- Deep and Shallow Utilities - storm, sanitary, and water.
- Flatworks - curbs, asphalt, sidewalks, driveways, and medians.
- Miscellaneous Civil Takeoffs - ESC, bypass pumping, manholes, landscaping, and related items
