About the role

  • This role is responsible for leading and managing a homeroom classroom while students engage in collaborative, age-appropriate centers, developmental play, and online learning aligned to individualized student data goals.
  • This position is well suited for individuals who aspire to become classroom teachers and are looking for a more supportive, steady on-ramp into leading a classroom environment.
  • Tutors gain valuable experience in whole-group instruction, classroom leadership, student engagement, and academic intervention while working within a highly collaborative school setting.

  • Tutors work closely with a team of teachers to support the academic growth and developmental needs of all students.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage and work closely with a wide range of staff members
  • Basic computer skills including troubleshooting and an ability to communicate about technical difficulties
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and communicate with both adults and children.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms.

  • and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally climb ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience managing and/or teaching groups of elementary-age students is strongly preferred
  • Interest in becoming a credentialed teacher is a plus, but not required.
  • Bachelor's Degree is a plus, but not required
