About the role
- Completes the registration process for emergency patients and direct admits sent to the emergency department.
- Collects patient liabilities upon discharge from the emergency department.

Responsibilities
- During the registration process, the ED Access Representative obtains all demographic, guarantor, and insurance information and accurately document information into the registration system
- Patients being placed in observation or admission status, the ED Access Representative will obtain a physician order to support services rendered.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to communicate orally, see, and hear to collect information
- Ability to transport patients and assist with baggage
- Required Licenses and Certifications
- The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Skills
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
- Knowledge of insurance and collection of payments preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and basic functionality of personal computer
- Ability to type and perform data entry functions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Critical thinking skills and ability to problem-solve and multi-task
- Ability to appropriately handle complexity and stress with the changing needs of the patients, families, visitors, and the Health System
