About the role
- We are looking for a Program Cost Engineer to join the Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) Team.
- Microsoft CO&I is the team behind the cloud.
- Within CO&I, the Global Project Controls (GPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business.
Responsibilities
- Business Program Management: Contribute to or lead a portfolio of projects including the project plan, timelines, milestones, financial management, performance metrics, and resource needs; communicate program status and risk and hold stakeholders accountable to schedule, risk mitigation plans, and processes.
- Business Program Planning and Design: Define and track success criteria and performance metrics; design compliant complex programs with cross-functional stakeholders; identify and scope opportunities to develop new programs and improve existing ones; perform program landscape research, forecasting, and trend analysis.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development - OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Nice to have
- Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
- Applied understanding of project controls principles combining cost and schedule impacts to projects, cost management, estimating, scheduling and change control
- demonstrated ability to generate descriptive and predictive insights from data via analytic methods.
- Progressed experience with applications such as MS Office (specifically Excel), SharePoint, Power BI, and Earned Value Management Systems
- working knowledge of project management software such as Omega 365 is a plus
- exposure to performance measurement and cost/schedule integration concepts and principles.
- expresses ideas, exercises sound judgment, and effectively listens.
- Construction industry experience with a background in project controls functions managing complex, multi-group, multi-disciplinary projects.
