About the role

Daimler Truck North America is the market leader and thrives as the voice of the trucking industry.
In the Detroit Powertrain Test Center, we are driving the powertrain R&D validation for our global Daimler Truck brand including conventional diesel and alternative powertrain components.
In this position, you will be responsible for facilitating metrology from a technical perspective focusing on prototype powertrain components.

Responsibilities

Systematic software scripts need to be designed and implemented to precisely measure a product dimension either verifying the design specifications or aging wear characteristics.
This will require applying mechanical, electrical and systems engineering principles to develop products, components, and systems.

Requirements

Applicants must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country the position is located in at the time of application
Final candidate may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Computer Science Engineering, or related fields
Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience required.
Basic knowledge in metrology, quality engineering, or manufacturing experience with component design principles, statistical analysis, process control, and functions such as GD&T, SPC, and 3D modeling.
Intermediate software knowledge in CAD (e.g., Siemens NX, or AutoCAD) and ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Design tolerances, and quality assurance required
Must have collaboration and communication skill sets.
Must have technical and digital skillset and advance PC skills including MS Office and database tools.
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Computer Science Engineering, or related fields (ABET Accredited University).

Compensation

Position offers a starting salary range of $90,000 - $115,000 USD

Advance knowledge of measurement systems (e.g.: Leitz w/Quidos, Mahr MMQ-400, VD280 and Mahr Win), CMM, vision systems, and other advanced metrology tools.
