About the role

  • Daimler Truck North America is the market leader and thrives as the voice of the trucking industry.
  • In the Detroit Powertrain Test Center, we are driving the powertrain R&D validation for our global Daimler Truck brand including conventional diesel and alternative powertrain components.
  • In this position, you will be responsible for facilitating metrology from a technical perspective focusing on prototype powertrain components.

Responsibilities

  • Systematic software scripts need to be designed and implemented to precisely measure a product dimension either verifying the design specifications or aging wear characteristics.
  • This will require applying mechanical, electrical and systems engineering principles to develop products, components, and systems.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country the position is located in at the time of application
  • Final candidate may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Computer Science Engineering, or related fields
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience required.
  • Basic knowledge in metrology, quality engineering, or manufacturing experience with component design principles, statistical analysis, process control, and functions such as GD&T, SPC, and 3D modeling.
  • Intermediate software knowledge in CAD (e.g., Siemens NX, or AutoCAD) and ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Design tolerances, and quality assurance required
  • Must have collaboration and communication skill sets.
  • Must have technical and digital skillset and advance PC skills including MS Office and database tools.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Computer Science Engineering, or related fields (ABET Accredited University).

Compensation

  • Position offers a starting salary range of $90,000 - $115,000 USD
