About the role

  • The Security Officer (On-Call) is responsible for maintaining safety and security for the members of the Carleton community and the physical property of Carleton College.
  • In addition, security personnel are the first call for help in medical emergencies, criminal emergencies, and after-hour maintenance problems.

Responsibilities

  • Also notify appropriate Carleton College administrators, Carleton College and/or Rice County counseling and/or support services when necessary.
  • Building Access Control: Provide access control to high security areas on campus.
  • Community Engagement: Interact with and participate in activities that create positive relationships with the student, faculty, staff, and visitors of the Carleton community.
  • Establish and maintain trust and confidence within the campus community, outside law enforcement agencies and the surrounding neighborhood.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions, operations, safety procedures, and hazardous labels.

Skills

  • Previous experience in Security, Public Safety, or a related field.
  • Current Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification or the ability to obtain an EMR certification within the first year of employment.
  • An equivalent advanced-level first aid certification may be accepted in lieu of EMR, subject to employer approval
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Driver's license and ability to be insured by the College
  • Associate or higher degree in related field
  • Security experience in a college/university setting

Compensation

  • The expected starting hourly range for this position is between $28.15 and $29.10. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training
