About the role

  • We are looking for backend software engineers who are excited about growing a cloud-native distributed SQL database to join our Disaster Recovery team.
  • The DR team is responsible for the core systems that safeguard customer data, including backup and restore functionality, physical cluster replication, and logical data replication.
  • These features enable customers to recover rapidly from catastrophic failures and protect against data loss.

Responsibilities

  • Develop in Go, but if you don't know it you'll learn while you're here.
  • Design and implement features for backup, restore, and replication to improve resilience and recovery times.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, SRE, and Support to address customer needs and resolve escalations.

Compensation

  • Reporting to Andy Xu - Manager, Engineering
  • Andy leads the Disaster Recovery team within the Database Engineering organization, where he oversees the development of CockroachDB's backup & restore, and physical cluster replication.
  • Based in Seattle with his family, Andy enjoys hiking, playing badminton, and spending quality time with his children outside of work.
  • Nick Travers - Director, Engineering
  • Nick joined Cockroach Labs in 2021 and leads the Database Platform group - Storage, KV, Server, Disaster Recovery, and Change Data Capture.
  • Originally from Perth, Australia, he lives in Los Angeles with his family.

  • Isaac is responsible for the health of the engineering organization at Cockroach Labs.
