About the role
- Core duties include reviewing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), specifying sensor technology (electrochemical, optic, infrared), defining alarm matrix logic, and overseeing high-risk field installations.
- Beyond initial startup, the role establishes calibration intervals, sensor replacement lifecycles, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- By collaborating with process engineering, facility operations, and EHS teams, the LSS Engineer ensures robust system reliability, complete regulatory compliance, and maximum personnel protection during high-volume manufacturing ramp-up.
Responsibilities
- The LSS Engineer owns the technical design, field installation, commissioning, and operational compliance of critical life safety infrastructure for Samsung's advanced semiconductor manufacturing facility in Taylor, Texas.
- Work with construction, equipment owners, vendors and operations to deliver systems safely and on schedule.
- Develop expertise in semiconductor TGMS/LSS standards and requirements to support LSS team and ongoing business needs.
- Review designs, drawings, specifications, I/O requirements, control logic and field installation for new and modified systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, Controls Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field
- Working knowledge of PLCs, I/O, control panels, field instrumentation, sensors/gas detectors, signal wiring, communications, and control system interfaces.
- Applicants must be authorized to access such information or eligible for government authorization.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, Controls Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
Skills
- 7+ years of experience with instrumentation, controls, I&E/I&C systems, industrial automation, or life safety/process monitoring systems.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical/control drawings, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.

- Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience.
Compensation
- The current base salary range for this role is between $106,000 - $145,000.
- Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
