About the role
- This role works with colleagues across departments to help ensure the company adheres to applicable regulations and contributes to the overall effectiveness of compliance operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal guidance on identified compliance risks and issues to support mortgage origination compliance and operations.
- Provide legal and compliance support for regulatory examination findings, regulatory or consumer complaints, and inquiries from stakeholders or counterparties, including conducting system-level research to support response preparation.
- Provide legal guidance on post-close suspense items to support timely clearing of conditions, reduce compliance-related delays, and help ensure investor delivery timelines are met.
- Provide legal support to defects causing critical loan salability issues and coordinate cross-functionally to develop corrective actions.
- Provide compliance legal support for use of technology in originations including the Company's LOS, point of sale system, and proprietary technology solutions.
- Serve as a resource for compliance support escalations, providing timely legal analysis and practical guidance on regulatory questions.

Requirements
- Knowledge of federal and state mortgage lending regulations, including but not limited to Dodd Frank Wallstreet Reform Act, QM/ATR, RESPA, TILA, ECOA, HMDA, UDAAP, and SAFE Act.
Skills
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mortgage lending compliance.
- Experience supporting compliance programs in the mortgage lending industry.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
