About the role

  • The Facilities Operations Department within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking to hire a Maintenance Tech II, High Performance Work Team.
  • The position is responsible for troubleshooting issues and providing service for and responding to customer and staff requests.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks and corrective repairs (PMR) based on issues identified during PM or reported by users.
  • Maintain and replace light bulbs, HVAC filters, ceiling tiles, and service plumbing fixtures (e.g., unclogging drains).
  • Assist with basic custodial tasks, including vacuuming floors, cleaning windows, and removing trash to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Support work performed by central shops, contractors, other zones, departments, or during campus events.
  • Perform corrective work to restore equipment or spaces to proper working conditions.
  • Create work orders for unassigned repairs identified during the shift.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and 3 years of relevant experience
  • Applicants claiming preference are responsible for providing required documentation by the closing date of the position.
  • The employee must have basic maintenance repair skills and perform basic housekeeping tasks at this level.

Nice to have

  • 3+ years of experience performing general building maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of custodial cleaning techniques and chemicals.
  • Experience with inventory management, including tracking materials and tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot a variety of facility-related issues independently.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to adhere to safety standards in all aspects of maintenance work.
  • UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
  • Special Instructions to the Applicants:
  • Position requires a valid Class E driver's license.

Compensation

  • 11:30pm (eligible for 5% shift differential pay)
