About the role
- Certified and trained forklift operator.
- Operates all types of forklifts to move intermodal equipment and other items as needed.
- Updates / utilizes equipment tracking system or grid provided to ensure location of the intermodal equipment is documented in the depot software.
Responsibilities
- Documents the condition of arriving and departing intermodal equipment utilizing via interchange
- Ensures the forklifts are in proper working order and documents inspections, reports discrepancies.
- Maintain daily inspection log(s) for lifts and properly report exceptions; ensure equipment receives periodic maintenance.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines (ITCO ACC) to perform the functions of the job.
- Fill and deliver material vouchers to production crews.
Requirements
- Ability to follow spoken and written instruction
- Employment is contingent upon the ability to pass required Safety Council training examinations, and all pre-employment screenings i.e. drug screen
- Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and hold or lift a variety of objects.
- Ability to operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic components.
- Comply with established ISO standards when required.
- Able to work outside in variable weather conditions
- Ability to safely perform all tasks and understand Company's safety policies and procedures
- Dependable transportation is required as well as the ability to work a flexible schedule if required (scheduled or unscheduled overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays)
Nice to have
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possess and maintain current certification in the operations of required forklift and related equipment
- Ability to learn quickly and attention to detail
- Preferred experience in driving and operating a container lift
Skills
- Adequate computer skills
- Good communication skills
