About the role

  • These systems open the door to new ways of testing, delivering, and operating at hypersonic speeds.
  • Inherently dual-use, our technology is built to meet urgent national security needs while laying the groundwork for future commercial applications.
  • You will contribute to the development of internal applications across the stack, from intuitive user interfaces to backend services and integrations.

Responsibilities

  • As a Full Stack Engineer II at Inversion, you will build the internal software tools that help our engineering teams innovate, make better decisions, and operate more effectively.
  • This role is cross-functional and ambiguous by design: you will work closely with technical users, take ownership of scoped problems, and help shape what high-quality internal tools should look like at Inversion.
  • Design, build, and maintain internal web applications and tooling that support engineering workflows across the company.
  • Contribute to the end-to-end lifecycle of internal tools, including problem definition, technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and long-term maintenance.
  • Build intuitive user interfaces and workflows for technical users, with a strong focus on usability, clarity, and speed.
  • Develop backend services, APIs, and integrations that support internal dashboards, documentation systems, data review tools, and AI-enabled workflows.
  • Partner closely with engineers and other technical stakeholders to identify pain points, gather requirements, and translate loosely defined needs into practical internal products.

Requirements

  • Strong front-end development experience with TypeScript/Javascript and frameworks like React
  • Familiarity with Linux development environments and basic CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience integrating AI-enabled capabilities or interfaces into internal software products.
  • Familiarity with databases, data modeling, and the tradeoffs between different storage approaches.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or modern deployment workflows.
  • Prior experience in a small team or startup environment where you were expected to take ownership and execute independently.
  • Experience building internal tools for engineering teams, such as dashboards, test and data review tools, documentation systems, or workflow automation. Extra points if this was for Aerospace!

Compensation

  • The California annual base salary for this role is currently $101,000 - $160,000.
