About the role
- The Medical College of Wisconsin's Department/Division/Program of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care within the inpatient setting on weekends.
- This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital.
- The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.
Responsibilities
- Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information.
- Privileged to perform procedures beyond core as identified by the trauma/critical care surgery services.
- Performs tertiary surveys.
Requirements
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) required within 6 months of start date
- 2 years of experienced required
- Advanced Practice Nurse: Master's Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.
- Physician Assistant: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.
- Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Joint Commission.
- 3-4 years of experience in trauma surgery, critical care, or acute care surgery preferred. Inpatient clinical management experience also preferred

- Wisconsin RN License
- Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
- Certification Requirements:
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
Nice to have
- 3-4 years of experience in trauma surgery, critical care, or acute care surgery preferred.
- Inpatient clinical management experience also preferred

- Approximately 1,780 MCW physicians and approximately 905 advanced practice providers care for more than 484,000 patients of all ages annually at Froedtert Hospital, Zablocki VA Medical Center, Children's Wisconsin, and many other hospitals
