About the role

  • This role is based in Austin, TX and follows a hybrid work model.
  • This position reports to the Executive Director, Scheduling.
  • This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, systems architecture, and applied AI.

Responsibilities

  • Develop target-state architecture and multi-quarter migration roadmaps for complex platform capabilities across multiple teams.
  • Design scalable, reliable, and performant distributed systems with measurable outcomes tied to service-level objectives (SLOs), benchmarks, and operational results.
  • Partner with engineering, product, security, and operations leaders to influence platform direction and modernization priorities without direct authority.
  • Support modernization planning for shared platform services and common capabilities.
  • Contribute to architecture review forums and design governance processes.
  • Mentor engineers and architects through design feedback and technical discussion.
  • Review application, data, and integration designs to ensure alignment with architecture standards, compliance requirements, and long-term platform goals.
  • Collaborate on long-range planning for platform investments and technical debt reduction.
  • Strong background in system design for scalability, reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
  • Experience building systems in regulated environments with attention to compliance, consent, data governance, auditability, and access control.

Requirements

  • Experience with event-driven architectures, API design, contract versioning, and workflow orchestration.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, container platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and Java or a comparable modern language.
