About the role
- All experienced officer transfers begin their career at VicPD in Patrol.
- Once two years in Patrol has been completed, officers may transfer to specialty units in accordance with departmental career path guidelines.
- Where reasonable and necessary, use proportional force in accordance with VicPD Policy, the Criminal Code and the National Use of Force Framework to apprehend offenders and protect the public.
Requirements
- Uniform position, may include plain clothes work as required
- Conduct Person / Vehicle / Traffic control as required
- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada
- Graduate of a recognized police academy in Canada
- Able to pass the Occupational Health Assessment (fitness and functional movement testing)
- Vision/Hearing standards at the recruit level
- Possess a valid class 5 BC Driver's Licence or equivalent from another province
Nice to have
- Self-motivated and possess strong interpersonal skills
- Able to work effectively in a team environment and when working alone
- Ability to effectively communicate and liaise with various community members
