About the role

  • The Comparative Medicine Research Unit (CMRU) is hiring a clinical veterinarian with a primary emphasis in rodent clinical medicine, with a backup role for large animal clinical care.
  • This position will supervise the rodent clinical care team, consisting of 1 rodent clinical care supervisor and secondary supervision of approximately 4 veterinary technicians and assistants.

Responsibilities

  • The University of Louisville (UofL) is seeking a highly motivated veterinarian to support its growing animal research program.

Requirements

  • DVM or VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited institution
  • License to practice in the U.S. (licensure to practice in Kentucky required within 12 months of hire)

Nice to have

  • ACLAM Board Certification or eligibility
  • At least 2 years' experience in clinical care of rodents or other laboratory animals
  • Previous management of large rodent populations
  • Teaching/training experience in rodent procedures & surgery
  • Excellent surgical skills (rodent & large animal)
  • Germ-free/Gnotobiotic experience
  • ABSL2 and/or ABSL3 experience
