About the role
- Receives surgery scheduling requests from physicians, secretaries, or patients via phone, fax, or in person.
- Completes the Surgical Data Form and schedules cases in the operating room systems for applicable facilities.
- Contacts patients to confirm surgery date, time, and location, and provides pre-operative instructions.
Requirements
- Obtains pre-authorizations for procedures as required by insurance companies.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required
- Collects all required patient and surgical information, including demographics, diagnosis, procedure, estimated surgery time, and length of surgery.
- Coordinates required pre-operative testing, including laboratory orders, referrals, and insurance authorizations.
- Sends required documentation, including physician orders and signed consent forms, to hospital pre-operative departments and maintains the OR log to verify receipt.
- Schedules pre-operative and post-operative appointments and obtains all required referrals and insurance authorizations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license

- Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
- Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
- Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
