About the role

  • The Masters of Clinical Counseling is seeking candidates who could teach one or more of a variety of graduate-level courses.
  • Our program offers courses throughout the year in three terms (Fall, Spring, and Summer) with 8 and 16 week courses.
  • Some classes are offered synchronously (on zoom, cameras on with live interaction with students).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, deliver, and review course materials and syllabi.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to effective graduate-level teaching.
  • Ability to learn the Canvas / Workday online system for student grading.
  • MA/MS accepted with evidence of specialized experience. Advanced degree in psychology or a closely related field.
  • Since this is a program that meets academic requirements for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist and/or a Licensed Professional Counselor, the applicant should be licensed and have relevant clinical experience.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence is required. A minimum of one year of teaching experience in higher education is preferred. Online teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of ways to instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students.
  • Experience to draw upon their own clinical training and experience to augment their teaching in the classrooms.
  • Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators, educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.
  • A thorough commitment to the religious and educational goals of the university.
  • Philosophical: Thorough commitment to the concept of Christian liberal arts education and a desire to work in a Christian university. Supportive of the religious and educational goals of the university and its sponsoring denomination.
  • Personal: Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, faculty agree to live in agreement with PLNU's Community Life Covenant.
  • The job offer is contingent on the successful completion of a background check. PLNU will consider qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, in a manner consistent with state and local "Fair Chance" laws.

Nice to have

Compensation

  • PLNU adjunct pay: Using a 3-unit full semester appointment as a pay guide, the adjunct pay range is $4,860 - $6,480.
  • The units will determine the actual salary.

Benefits

  • Promote student learning through utilizing relational teaching practices including meeting with each student synchronously (i.e., individually or in small groups) at least once during the semester.
