About the role
- The Acute Care Assistant works under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide and assist with direct patient care services that do not require licensure.
- This position will provide relief back up assistance to the Unit Secretary as directed.
- Ensures the safe handling of infectious material(s) to protect all patients and employees.
Responsibilities
- Primary tasks include patient hygiene, activities of daily living, nutritional support, vital signs, EKG's, ambulating and other basic patient care activities as directed.
- Maintains positive public relations by interacting with patients, visitors, physicians and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner.
Nice to have
- High School Graduate or G.E.D Certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- A minimum of one year of recent experience as a Nurses Assistant in an acute care setting is strongly preferred or 1 year recent experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility considered.
Skills
- The ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
- The ability to provide personal care to patients in a compassionate and caring manner.
- The ability to position and/or transfer patients.
