Responsibilities
- Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders to identify and facilitate suitable modified or alternate work assignments for employees who are medically fit for other duties but may be unable to return to their substantive position.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation related to accommodations, outcomes, and employee interactions in accordance with privacy requirements, internal processes, and applicable legislation.
Requirements
- Experience collaborating with managers, HR, Labour Relations, unions, third-party providers, and operational leaders in complex or sensitive employee matters.
- Comprehensive knowledge of human rights legislation, duty to accommodate, and return-to-work principles (e.g., Canadian Human Rights Act, provincial human rights legislation, Workers' Compensation frameworks).
- Knowledge of collective agreements and experience interpreting provisions related to accommodation, seniority, and redeployment.
- Familiarity with insurance providers, third-party administrators, and Workers' Compensation processes.
- Knowledge of case management best practices, including early intervention, stay-at-work/return-to-work planning, and barrier identification.
- This may include the coordination of modified work, providing information about claim progression, return-to-work planning, and issue escalation where required.
- Bilingual Required / Bilingue requis
- English and French are required / Le français et l'anglais sont requis.
- University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in rehabilitation counselling, occupational therapy, occupational health and safety nursing, disability management, human resources, or a related field.
- Post- secondary training or certification in Disability Management, Wellness, Occupational Health, or Human Resources is considered an asset.
- 3-5+ years of direct experience in disability management, workplace accommodation, occupational health, workers' compensation, wellness, human resources, or a related field.
- Experience developing, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring individualized accommodation, return-to-work, reintegration, or modified work plans.
- Strong understanding of medical disability management, functional abilities, and workplace limitations.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and their intersection with disability management and workplace accommodations.
- Understanding of privacy legislation and requirements related to handling confidential medical and employee information.
- Awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles and how they apply to workplace accessibility and accommodation.
