About the role

  • Reports To: Health and Safety Manager

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example in promoting a safe work environment by consistently adhering to and reinforcing the company's safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Offer expert advice and assistance to Operations and Support Services teams to support the successful execution and maintenance of a robust OHS program.
  • Deliver employee safety orientations, coordinate emergency response training, and organize both internal and external training sessions for operational staff.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Site Preparedness and Emergency Response Plans and related procedures.
  • Assist in conducting joint field audits, providing recommendations to Operations and Support Services management for continuous improvement.
  • Support managers in identifying training needs and conducting gap analyses across all contracts to ensure workforce competency.

Requirements

  • Coordinate and conduct internal audits required for maintaining SAFE and COR certifications.
  • Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of applicable safety legislation and regulations in British Columbia and Alberta.
  • Formal training in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) certification is preferred.
  • Experience with return-to-work and disability management programs considered an asset.
  • Class 5 drivers license and abstract with less than 6 demerits.
  • Successful applicant must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • A safety conscious attitude.
  • Punctuality, dependability, and accountability in the field.

Compensation

  • Pay rate of $59,000 to $70,000 annually.
  • Overtime, statutory holiday, and vacation pay.
