About the role
- This is a hands-on experience, which will allow you to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world setting and contribute to the systems and infrastructure that keep a fast-paced defense technology company running.
Responsibilities
- Provide support for hardware, software, and network issues, including desktops, laptops, servers, printers, and mobile devices
- Perform routine system maintenance, including software updates, security patches, and backups
- Document and track support tickets using a helpdesk management system, ensuring resolutions are well-documented
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging IT trends and technologies to provide innovative solutions
- Collaborate with senior IT staff on complex technical projects, migrations, and system upgrades
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field
- Basic ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues across desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices, with comfort in at least one operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux)
- Excellent communication with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and an ability to prioritize tasks
Nice to have
- Exposure to scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) is a plus
- Exposure to security best practices, including data protection and access control
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- This role requires full-time in office presence (40 hours/week) based at our headquarters in Austin, TX, from August through December
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Occasional standing and walking within the office
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
- Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies
