About the role

  • Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, this individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with the monthly close process, and supporting financial reporting across multiple business entities.
  • The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts
  • Support revenue recognition and deferred revenue accounting in accordance with company policies
  • Support the preparation of audit working papers and respond to requests from external auditors
  • Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Operations, and other departments to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes
  • Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Controller

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Ability to leverage AI tools and effective prompting techniques to improve efficiency, reporting quality, and analytical output
  • Experience & Skills:
  • This position is located in Midland, ON and the ideal candidate will be from the Midland and surrounding area, or within a reasonable commuting distance.
  • Working toward a CPA designation or active CPA designation is considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting

Skills

  • 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity environment
  • Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite experience is considered an asset)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions such as PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and data analysis tools
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • A continuous improvement mindset with an interest in automation and process optimization
