About the role
- Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, this individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with the monthly close process, and supporting financial reporting across multiple business entities.
- The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts
- Support revenue recognition and deferred revenue accounting in accordance with company policies
- Support the preparation of audit working papers and respond to requests from external auditors
- Collaborate with Finance, Sales, Operations, and other departments to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes
- Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Controller
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Ability to leverage AI tools and effective prompting techniques to improve efficiency, reporting quality, and analytical output
- Experience & Skills:
- This position is located in Midland, ON and the ideal candidate will be from the Midland and surrounding area, or within a reasonable commuting distance.
- Working toward a CPA designation or active CPA designation is considered an asset
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Skills
- 2-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity environment
- Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite experience is considered an asset)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions such as PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and data analysis tools
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- A continuous improvement mindset with an interest in automation and process optimization
