About the role
- To equitably protect and empower consumers and workers while maintaining a predictable yet innovative regulatory environment for the businesses we regulate.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate and interpret legal documents and stakeholder communications in support of 2-4 Administrative Law Judges (ALJs) to determine and implement appropriate processing decisions based on applicable statutes, rules, and agency policies and procedures
- Be responsible for complete working knowledge of applicable statutes, rules and policies as they apply to various situations that arise from processing legal documents, telephone requests and contacts with outside stakeholders

Requirements
- Two years associate degree in Paralegal or Legal Assistant Studies
- Any combination of training and experience that demonstrates experience in legal work, independent judgment, legal terminology principles, concepts, systems, and processes

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Experience with legal and medical terminology.
- Excellent grammar, punctuation, proofreading, and written communication skills.
- Experience handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to accept guidance, embrace change, and contribute positively to a dynamic work environment.

Compensation
- The department administers state laws and rules governing workers' compensation, occupational safety and health, financial institutions, insurance companies and building codes.
- This position is with the Workers' Compensation Board (WCB).
- WCB provides timely and impartial resolution of disputes arising under the Workers' Compensation Law and Oregon Safe Employment Act.
