About the role

  • This role serves as the primary link between Supply Chain, Operations, Production Planning, Engineering, Finance, and Suppliers to ensure materials are available when needed while minimizing excess inventory and waste.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all procurement activities to ensure timely, cost-effective acquisition of direct and indirect materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels that support production while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs.
  • Create and manage inventory cycle counting schedule.
  • Develop and improve material management processes that increase inventory accuracy, material availability, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage the material handler daily responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with Production Planning to proactively identify material shortages.
  • Collaborate with the proper team members to decide costs and supply needs for production (i.e., cost increases from suppliers, obtain copper and other vital production articles).
  • Support and take part in Lean/5S and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support activities within compliance to ISO Quality System procedures.

Nice to have

  • Associate degree in related field preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of applicable purchasing laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to read and interpret production and materials reports.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory processes and cycle counts.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organization and documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
  • Ability to communicate verbally, in writing and interpersonally.
  • Solid knowledge in Microsoft applications and applicable production applications.
  • Must be able to multi-task, follow priorities given, and have strong troubleshooting skills.
