About the role
- As a Safety Specialist III, you will be a senior member of the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) team, responsible for driving continuous improvement in safety performance.

Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of HSE policies and procedures.
- Perform detailed safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees.
- Conduct thorough investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and develop preventive measures.
- Maintain and analyze HSE metrics and data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address HSE concerns.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- You will lead complex safety initiatives, mentor junior team members, and serve as a subject matter expert on HSE matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a related field.
- In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 6 years of related experience is required.
- Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local HSE regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct a job hazard analysis, site audits, and incident root cause analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of HSE management systems.
- Familiarity or direct experience with implementation or maintenance of ISO 45001 certification.
- Experience with DCMA INST 8210.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) and/or Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST) certification.
- Subject matter expertise/competency or certification in one or more of the following areas: Radiation Safety (officer), Laser Safety (officer) Fall Protection, Lockout/Tagout, Electrical Safety (NFPA 70E), MEWP & PIT program management, Thermography, Hazardous Material Transportation, Lithium-Ion battery safety and storage, First Aid/CPR/AED Trainer, OSHA 500/501, OSHA 510/511
- Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
