Please note that this is a hybrid role based in New York City, with an expectation to be in the office 2-3 days per week at our 60 Madison Avenue location.
Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.

Own the intent architecture end-to-end (taxonomy, routing, and gap analysis) and drive release rigor for AI experiences, including versioning, staged rollouts, and regression testing.
Write, test, and optimize system prompts and exceptional UX copy. You will craft language that makes users in moments of distress feel seen, heard, and important-motivating and uplifting them without ever being dismissive of their challenges.
Partner deeply with Clinical and Product teams to ensure AI interactions drive clinically valid behavior change, focusing on internal motivation.
Collaborate with engineers to implement prompt versioning and evaluate conversational quality using testing frameworks.
Design and prototype chat interfaces, considering latency, tool-calling UI, and user onboarding within our core design system.
Optimize AI interaction resolution rates and reduce the necessity for human fallback through refined conversational flows.
Maintain exceptionally high member satisfaction scores specifically for AI-driven conversational experiences.
Successfully define and integrate reusable AI interaction patterns into the design system within the first 6 months.
Deep intellectual curiosity and a drive to tinker. You don't treat AI as a novelty-you actively use it as a collaborator to think better and accelerate your own workflows.
Strong portfolio demonstrating complex human-AI interaction design, underlying logic, and user flows.

5+ years of experience in UX/Product Design, with at least 1-2 years focused on AI-driven products, LLMs, or conversational agents.
Familiarity with prompt engineering and testing methodologies.

The mission of the AI Interaction Designer is to create an empathetic, clinically valid, and effortless AI experience for our end-users.
This includes designing the parameters, tone, and interaction flows for our user-facing AI agents to drive meaningful behavior change and internal motivation.
Reporting to our Senior Manager, Product Design, you will be part of the Design Systems team, and partner closely with clinical and engineering teams to execute our AI product roadmap through best-in-class conversation design, rigorous evaluation, and continuous iteration.
Candidates must be based in the NYC metro area or able to relocate independently within 90 days of their start date.
Occasional travel will be required for team on-sites.
