About the role
- As an HR Business Partner, you will serve as a strategic advisor to the managers within your client groups, including a unionized workforce.
- You will help maintain positive labour relations by ensuring compliance with the collective agreement, internal policies, and applicable labour laws.
- Working closely with operational leaders, you will support organizational performance, guide change initiatives, and promote best practices in human resources management.
Responsibilities
- Advise and support managers in the interpretation and application of the collective agreement.
- Support discussions regarding key talent, individual development plans, and organizational capacity challenges.
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant Human Resources experience, ideally in an HR Business Partner role.
- Experience as an HR Business Partner or Labour Relations Advisor in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, build trusted relationships, and support managers at all levels of the organization.
Nice to have
- Act as a trusted advisor to leaders and managers, translating business priorities into practical people strategies.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in labour relations, disciplinary management, performance management, absenteeism, and conflict resolution.
- Understand the operational, organizational, and people-related challenges of the supported business areas in order to recommend HR solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Provide guidance to managers on complex employee relations matters, performance issues, workplace climate concerns, and HR practices.
- Ensure the consistent, fair, and compliant application of HR policies, internal practices, and applicable legal requirements across Canada.
- Identify recurring trends and recommend preventive actions to mitigate organizational risks.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian labour and employment laws, with the ability to navigate multi-site or matrixed organizations.
