Responsibilities
- Establish and drive engineering excellence: Own the operational baseline for how amplo's engineering team works. Define the metrics, audit where the team is today, and build a clear path to improve how software gets built.
- Lead and Develop the Engineering Team: Directly manage a team of ~10 engineers. Build a team culture that moves through storming and norming toward genuinely high performance. Invest in the people, not just the output.
- Own Compliance and Reliability Operate within SOC 2 Type 2 controls and partner with compliance on evidence and audits.
- Track record of building team culture and operating as an effective people manager.

Requirements
- 8+ years of engineering experience including 4+ Years managing engineers in a SaaS environment.
- you can go deep enough to earn credibility with the team and surface the right tradeoffs.
- Experience operating in compliance-bound environments (SOC2 or similar).
Nice to have
- I nsurtech or other highly regulated industry background.
- Based in NYC strongly preferred but not required.
- In your first 6-12 months the following should be true:
- Delivery cadence and predictability are consistent.
- Reliability and incident posture reflect a platform teams can stand behind.
- Specific platform-level milestones are hit: A meaningful capability shipped, a compliance milestone reached, and a systemic reliability problem solved.
Compensation
- The base salary range for this position is $225,000 - $275,000 annually.
