About the role

  • Job Title: Mobile Safety Associate (Driver) Full Time/Part Time/PRN: PRN (as needed) Temporary/Seasonal/Regular: Temporary.
  • The Safety Officer/Driver serves as a key member of the mobile response team, helping ensure that older adults, individuals with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations have safe access to cooling resources and services.
  • This position is not law enforcement and does not provide armed security services.

Responsibilities

  • The role focuses on transportation safety, client and staff well-being, operational support, incident response, and coordination with leadership and emergency services when necessary.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and document findings according to established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate mileage, fuel, vehicle inspection, and transportation records.
  • Travel/Location: Onsite, multiple mobile locations in the NYC area Mission of Role/Position Summary: The Safety Associate/Driver supports the safe, respectful, and orderly operation of Mobile Cooling Services during extreme heat events.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for extended periods of time.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa is required.

Nice to have

  • 1+ year experience serving older adults, individuals with disabilities, or other vulnerable populations.
  • 1+ year experience in safety monitoring, transportation services, emergency management, disaster response, community outreach, or social services.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
  • 1+ year experience driving and parking in urban environments.

Skills

  • Safe driving skills.
  • Knowledge of local streets, traffic patterns, and parking regulations.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques.
  • Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies and stressful situations.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal procedures.

Compensation

  • $25k-$28k
