About the role

Job Title: Mobile Safety Associate (Driver) Full Time/Part Time/PRN: PRN (as needed) Temporary/Seasonal/Regular: Temporary.
The Safety Officer/Driver serves as a key member of the mobile response team, helping ensure that older adults, individuals with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations have safe access to cooling resources and services.
This position is not law enforcement and does not provide armed security services.

The role focuses on transportation safety, client and staff well-being, operational support, incident response, and coordination with leadership and emergency services when necessary.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and document findings according to established procedures.
Maintain accurate mileage, fuel, vehicle inspection, and transportation records.
Travel/Location: Onsite, multiple mobile locations in the NYC area Mission of Role/Position Summary: The Safety Associate/Driver supports the safe, respectful, and orderly operation of Mobile Cooling Services during extreme heat events.

Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for extended periods of time.
Must be 18 years of age or older.

1+ year experience serving older adults, individuals with disabilities, or other vulnerable populations.
1+ year experience in safety monitoring, transportation services, emergency management, disaster response, community outreach, or social services.
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
1+ year experience driving and parking in urban environments.

Safe driving skills.
Knowledge of local streets, traffic patterns, and parking regulations.
Understanding of trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques.
Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies and stressful situations.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
Ability to follow written and verbal procedures.
