About the role

  • The Shoreview Center is also the home of our bee keeping project which provides fun and innovative activities for everyone.
  • MSS provides all training for a commercial driving license as applicable.
  • Must relate well with people with disabilities and with individuals with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized program plan for persons in assigned group. Assist persons served with their personal needs as necessary, including using the bathroom, eating, putting on coats, etc.
  • Assist program participants with developing and using a functional communication system to communicate needs and interact with others. Utilize technology and adaptive equipment to increase each person's independent functioning.
  • Pass medications and drive people to and from the center and community sites.
  • Must accurately read and implement individual plans, medication instructions etc.

Requirements

  • Must accurately record behavior of persons served and complete required forms.
  • Must be qualified for employment in a Day Services Facility as determined by the MN DHS.
  • Must pass other background checks as required by MSS. and/or state and federal law.
  • Must be able to lift and transfer adults with physical disabilities, using mechanical lifts and other methods identified as appropriate for a participant.
  • Must have/maintain a valid driver's license and must have/secure a Passenger Assistance Certificate within 6 months of hire.
  • Must have a clean driving record and be insurable under the conditions set by our insurance carrier.
  • The ideal candidate has experience working with adults with developmental disabilities and interested in a variety of creative activities i.e. rock wall climbing, theatre, painting, bee-keeping, etc.
