About the role

  • The IMF is seeking the services of a qualified Archives Officer on a fixed-term contract for the processing of a backlog of its records.
  • These records will be predominantly analogue in format but may include some electronic as well.
  • Under the general supervision of the Archives T eam L ead, the Archives Officer will be responsible for the appraisal, arrangement/description, and subsequent entry of the records ' metadata in the online catalogue.

Requirements

  • A m inimum of 4 years of experience processing archival collections.
  • Experience applying international standards and best practices in archives and records management as well as electronic records/archives management principles within archival systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a diverse team and to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels, stakeholders, and external researchers.

Nice to have

  • Experience with records management systems, databases, and digital archiving tools
  • Familiarity with international standards for archives and records management.
  • Experience performing archival appraisal.
  • Proficien cy in MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Ability to lift boxes and files up to 40 lbs.
  • Knowledge of digitization techniques and preservation practices is an advantage.

  • Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • 1 Archival processing
  • 1.1 Appraise s records to remove extraneous, transitory, and irrelevant documentation.
  • 1.2 Arrange s and describe s records according to international archival standards, best practice s and internal processes.
  • 2 Catalogue Upload
  • 2.1 Add s metadata to catalogue records in accordance with international standards and internal guidelines.
  • 2.2 Review s and ensure s the accuracy and consistency of metadata and descriptions.
