About the role

  • This role plays an important part in creating a welcoming, safe, and respectful dining environment for the people we serve.
  • Major Responsibilities Food Preparation and Kitchen Operations Prepare assigned food items following established menus, recipes, and quantity guidelines.
  • Measure, portion, and prepare ingredients (e.g., chopping vegetables, cutting meat).

Responsibilities

  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Position Overview Under the direction of the Food Services Manager, the Cook supports the preparation, cooking, and service of nutritious meals for our programs.
  • Working both independently and as part of a team, the Cook follows established menus, recipes, and food safety standards to deliver high-quality meals while minimizing waste.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, and food prep areas throughout each shift.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in food preparation, cooking, and meal service.
  • Previous and recent experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and are able and willing to learn and use other JHSOK computer platforms.
  • Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment.
