About the role
- As an Intern at Autodesk, you will be immersed in driving and owning projects that directly impact our customers, internal teams, or core products.
- You will work with a cross-functional team within Autodesk Research, including members of the Simulation, Optimization and Systems, Industry Futures, and Engineering organizations.
- As a member of the team, you will have access to state-of-the-art workshops and manufacturing expertise within the Autodesk Toronto Technology Centre.
Responsibilities
- Apply your knowledge of Manufacturing, Design, Systems Engineering and state-of-the-art AI tools to create proof-of-concepts, prototypes and demonstrations
- Document research findings, prototypes, and lessons learned for future reference
- Understanding of product design, manufacturing processes, and design-for-assembly principles
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Master's degree program in Robotics, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or an equivalent discipline with a graduation date no earlier than December 2026.
- Proven track record of managing projects and challenges
- Exposure to AI/ML concepts and active experience using AI tools for software development or prototyping
- Experience with CAD/CAM, mechanical design and reverse engineering workflows
- Proficiency in Python and experience with software development for prototyping
Nice to have
- Prior experience from internships, extracurriculars, or other side projects
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
- Passion for Autodesk and/or desire to learn more about the domain
- Doctoral degree program in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline
- Experience operating advanced manufacturing equipment (i.e. CNC mill, 3D-scanner, CMM, 3D printers)
- Experience designing assemblies and product development processes
- Knowledge of Systems Engineering, Model Based Systems Engineering or quantitative trade-off methods (Multi-Attribute Utility Theory, Pareto analysis)
- Experience using Modelica, MATLAB, or similar tools for simulation and analysis
