Responsibilities

  • We're currently looking for a seasoned Solution Architect to play a pivotal role in Shell's Trading & Supply global transformation, specifically the implementation of our Energy Trade & Risk Management (ETRM) solution on Azure to create a scalable, secure, and strategic landscape that enables the transformation of Shell's Trading capabilities.
  • With a modular ecosystem being designed around this foundation, you'll help shape a future ready, cloud native architecture built with flexibility, resilience, and data centricity at its core.
  • As we move through the design phase, you will have a rare chance to influence architectural decisions from the ground up, define how a modern ETRM landscape should operate at global scale, and drive a paradigm shift in how Shell's Trading business integrates processes, data, and systems across the value chain.
  • Not only lead in your area of expertise but also play a key role in shaping and transforming the role itself-identifying opportunities, driving innovation, and delivering impact that extends beyond the initial remit.
  • Guide detailed designers and business analysts during the design phase.
  • Review and formally approve detailed solution designs.
  • Monitor emerging IT technologies and apply this insight to design future-ready solutions for Shell.
  • Stay informed of developments in Shell's IT standards and services, ensuring they are incorporated into solution designs.
  • Engage with stakeholders to address architectural concerns and drive strategic improvements.
  • Diagnose problems and implement innovative solutions fitting into the wider Shell Trading picture.

Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than the current employer
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Trading IT
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience with OpenLink Endur v14+
  • Knowledge of the end-to-end Trading Business from deal inception through to settlement
  • Industry Knowledge:
  • Technical Architecture & Design:
  • Own and drive technical architecture, design, and standards for software products in Commodities Trading.
  • Confidently lead architecture decisions across portfolios, managing divergent opinions.
  • Create pragmatic, implementable technical designs balancing risk, complexity, cost, and value.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders for strategic and day-to-day technical decisions.

Skills

  • Expert in one or more of the programming languages (Node.js,.Net,.Net Core, Python etc) with Cloud Native Platform Development (Azure/AWS)
  • Expert in one or more of the front-end development technologies (specifically React and Micro frontend).
  • Expert in one or more of Data Development (SQL Databases, No SQL, Cloud Datastores etc) technologies
  • Expert in JVS and OpenComponents
  • Exposure to SAP HANA, Salesforce, API management, Multifactor authentication.
  • 10+ years in software and architecture delivery.
  • TOGAF (or similar framework) experience and Enterprise Architecture tooling.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with 5+ years' experience in trading environments.
  • Hands-on experience in architecting applications into the Azure platform, including migrations/re-platforming of legacy on-premise systems.
  • 5+ years in CI/CD delivery using Git/GitHub, VSTS/Azure DevOps, Terraform, Ansible.

Compensation

  • The base salary range for this position is $201,000 - $301,000 per year.

  • Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
  • Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance.
