About the role

  • A key operational component of the administration of the Ontario New Home Warranties and Protection Plan is dispute resolution, which Law addresses in courts, arbitrations and tribunals.
  • Law is also involved in the development of Tarion's policies and strategic initiatives.
  • This position is also accountable for administering and coordinating the defense and/or collection litigation process for the department.

Responsibilities

  • The Tarion Law department has three broad functions: operational, support and policy development.
  • This position is accountable for providing legal administrative and clerical support to one or more lawyers in the Law department.
  • What you will be doing: Clerical Support and Administrative support: Provide clerical and administrative support to one or more lawyers with document management, scheduling, opening and closing files, and tracking file status and deadlines.
  • Provide administrative support with preparing court, Licence Appeal Tribunal and Builder Arbitration Forum materials.
  • About the Team The Tarion Law department has three broad functions: operational, support and policy development.
  • Law supports other Tarion departments, the CEO and the Board of Directors by providing sound legal advice and recommendations regarding Tarion's operations and special projects.
  • Prepare, draft, review, and format legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, motion materials, affidavits, briefs, tribunal materials and arbitration documents under lawyer supervision.

Requirements

  • Maintain records, statistics and databases as required for department performance, reporting and other purposes.
  • Liaise with internal departments, external counsel, courts, tribunals, arbitrators and other stakeholders as required.

Compensation
