About the role

  • The schedule will be Monday to Friday, 5am or 8am depending on the day.
  • The starting rate for a CDL or Non-CDL holding applicant will be $32.00 to $37.00 per hour depending on experience.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: - Extensive physical activity.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires.
  • Ability to perform a physically demanding job, loading and unloading, at times with no helpers.
  • Alaska Waste, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety conscious Lead Driver to join our team in Sitka, AK!
  • The Lead Driver will actively promote and support the company's safety program as a top priority, ensuring safe work practices are consistently followed.
  • This position also supports the growth and development of operations personnel by providing guidance, mentoring, and opportunities for professional advancement.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days of employment or Valid Class A or Class B CDL with Air Brakes Endorsement.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment requirements.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
  • With some required weekend work.

Nice to have

  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Compensation

  • $32k-$37k
