About the role
- The On-Call Patient Care Assistant provides personal care, comfort measures and environmental services of the clients (including those needing special precautions) and preforms specific treatments.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes. Maintains clean, safe and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, equipment
- Participates positively in training and support of all team members, volunteers and students as needed.
- Maintains clean, safe and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, equipment; stocking supplies; placing equipment in proper storage areas.
- Promotes and maintains safe work environment for staff as well as our customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.
- The On-Call works effectively with Private Duty team to maintain an environment of excellence which is client focused and provides timely, appropriate, compassionate, quality client care.
Requirements
- Valid Drivers License Required
- In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served.
- The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure.
- Caregivers will be required to work 2 weeks of on call per month as well as holidays when required.
- Demonstrates competent understanding of assigned plans of care within appropriate scope of practice and responsibilities as directed by the RN/LPN to include accurately completing all required documentation.
- Education
- Program Graduate, Personal Care Aide Training Program Approved by VA Department of Health/DMAS (Required) or
- Experience
- Licenses and Certifications
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required)
- Drives personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time to perform essential functions of the job

Nice to have
- Program Graduate, Nurse Aide Training Program Approved by VA Board of Nursing (Preferred)
- Prior work experience in a home care setting (Preferred)
Compensation
- $17k-$22k
Benefits
- $16.80 - $21.83/HourlyActual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
