About the role
- We are looking for an AI Enablement Specialist to step into a newly created role that will help shape how ConeTec leverages AI across the business.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the Business to Identify High-Impact AI Opportunities
- Build short business cases for shortlisted opportunities and recommend what to pilot, what to scale, and what to park
- Travel regularly to ConeTec's offices and field sites to build context, relationships, and credibility across the business
- Drive AI Adoption and Build Change Capability
- Lead the rollout, configuration, and ongoing optimization of Microsoft 365 Copilot and other AI tools across the company
- Design and deliver training, office hours, and an internal champions network so AI tools get used and used well
- Create prompt libraries, job-aids, and short-form walkthroughs tailored to each team's workflows
Requirements
- Experience Requirements
- 3-6 years of progressive experience in a role that combined AI enablement, digital transformation, data engineering, or business systems work - ideally in a Microsoft and Azure environment
- Experience operating within a broader corporate or parent-company IT framework is a strong asset
- Demonstrated success deploying productivity tools (Microsoft 365 Copilot, Power Platform, or similar) to non-technical users at organizational scale
- Hands-on experience designing and operating Azure-based data solutions, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Functions
- Practical experience implementing data governance practices - data quality, classification, lineage, master data - that improved business outcomes
- Experience partnering directly with business leaders to identify, prioritize, and deliver technology solutions
Skills
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem: Copilot, SharePoint, Teams, Power BI, Power Automate
- Working knowledge of data governance platforms (Microsoft Purview an asset)
- Familiarity with AI/ML fundamentals - enough to evaluate tools, write effective prompts, and explain capabilities and limits to colleagues
- Microsoft certifications (Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure AI Engineer, M365 Copilot, Power Platform) considered an asset
- Soft skill requirements
- Translator - moves easily between technical, business, and non-technical audiences without losing anyone
- Hands-on builder who would rather ship a working pilot than write a strategy deck
- Excellent written and verbal communication, particularly for documentation and training
- Curious about emerging AI capabilities but disciplined about evaluating them against real business needs
- Systems thinker - sees how data, processes, and tools fit together across the organization
- Comfortable holding the line on governance without becoming the "department of no"
Company info
- ConeTec is a global leader in geotechnical site investigation and in-situ testing.
- Our growing 800+ person team work in dynamic, field, office and research-based environments where technical excellence, safety, and leadership go hand in hand.
- At ConeTec, growth is not just about expanding our business, it's about developing our people, our systems, and our capabilities at every stage.
- As we advance toward our 2030 Vision, we're investing in the data foundations, technology platforms, and AI capabilities that will help our teams work more efficiently, make better-informed decisions, and deliver even more value to our clients.
- Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role is fundamentally about partnership, sitting down with leaders across Finance, HR, Project Management, Operations, Marketing, and our field teams to understand how work actually gets done, then translating those conversations into practical AI solutions that make the business more efficient, better aligned, and easier to scale.
- The role is hands-on.
- You will identify the highest-value opportunities, build the business cases, run the pilots, deliver the training, and own the data foundation that makes any of it work.
- You'll travel regularly to ConeTec's offices and field sites there is no substitute for being on the ground, watching the work, and building the relationships that turn a tool rollout into adoption.
- You'll operate within our parent company's IT framework and partner closely with their team.
- This is a highly visible role with real influence, ideal for someone who enjoys building things from the ground up, aligning systems that haven't talked to each other before, and helping colleagues see what's possible.
- Meet regularly with leaders across Finance, HR, Project Management, Operations, Marketing, and our field teams to understand their workflows, priorities, and pain points
- Identify and prioritize the highest-value AI use cases - proposal drafting, invoice processing, candidate screening, project reporting, field data summarization, and others we haven't thought of yet
