About the role

  • Great Gray is looking to add a QA Engineering Manager to our Technology team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop quality engineers (FTE and contractors) across all Great Gray products, providing coaching, mentorship, and career development to continue building our high-performing, collaborative engineering organization.
  • Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering Managers, Directors of Engineering to ensure high quality software is being developed, both by crafting testing procedures, but also collaborating on our processes across the board.
  • Own team delivery and operational metrics, removing blockers, managing technical dependencies, and ensuring predictable execution and delivery of automated testing features
  • Collaborate with leadership to align technical decisions with business goals and deliver outstanding customer value.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority, working effectively with Product, Design, Developers, and other engineering teams.
  • Madison Dearborn Partners ("MDP") purchased Great Gray from Wilmington Trust in April 2023.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be authorized to work directly for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship or transfer.

Nice to have

  • 7+ years of experience shipping great software from a testing perspective, 4+ years with web applications.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills, prioritizing clarity.
  • Proven track record leading automation test development teams through full software lifecycles, from planning through delivery and operations
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to bring best practice ideas to the team.

  • Our current tech stack is a blend of existing and next-gen tools/languages, and like our company itself, our software is always evolving.
  • Automated testing: Cypress & Playwright
  • Frontend: Angular, React
  • Backend: C#.NET
  • Data Layer: MSSQL, Python, Postgres, Databricks
  • Infrastructure: Azure cloud
  • Tooling: Docker, GitHub, Cursor, SonarQube

Compensation

  • $155,000-$190,000
  • This base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
  • The pay range displayed above is the base pay compensation range that Great Gray expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting.
  • Individual compensation within this range, or that may warrant a provision for pay beyond this range, depends on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, candidate's prior education and relevant work experience and training as well as position location and local market demands.
  • Our pay-for-performance culture also includes participation in an annual incentive bonus plan for this position which is not included in the 'Base Pay Range' noted above.
