About the role
- Take an active role in contributing to the conceptualization, execution, and assessment of a diverse range of recreation programs and services.
- Contribute to the recreation therapy intervention plan and actively report significant changes observed to Recreation Therapy team and appropriate stakeholders.
- Participate as a member of the interprofessional team(s).
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with our dedicated team to help design and develop engaging activities that cater to the unique preferences and needs of our clients.
- In partnership with the Recreation Therapist, collaborate in the design of therapeutic recreation programs.
- Implement recreation participation programs to meet patient interests.
- Maintain Recreation Therapy records such as GRASP, MDS, recreation statistics, program descriptions and evaluations timely and accurately.
- Consider program requirements such as facilities, budget, equipment, and supplies; purchase and maintain supplies as necessary
Requirements
- book entertainment, complete patient meal forms and Stores order forms as required.
- Participate in the orientation/mentorship of new staff and colleagues as required.
- Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the centre's core values and helps patients get their life back
- 2 years recreation/activation experience with the adult population.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and within an interprofessional team
- Ability to be creative and resourceful
- Prepare posters, employee expense forms, equipment set up requests, and Recreation Therapy calendar; book entertainment, complete patient meal forms and Stores order forms as required.
- Minimum 1 - 2 years recreation/activation experience with the adult population.
Skills
- Effective collaborative and team oriented skills
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
- Computer skills with Microsoft word and outlook
