About the role
- Provides counseling services as stated in students' IEPs
- evaluates students' counseling needs and writes IEP goals
- and participates in IEP meetings when counseling services are specified or requested.
Responsibilities
- Keeps abreast of developments and issues in counseling and other related areas; and continues own personal professional development through participation in workshops, seminars, courses, in-service training, and reading.
Requirements
- Master's degree.
- Ability to communicate in American Sign Language.
- The successful candidate will undergo a background check that must be cleared prior to working at Gallaudet University.
Nice to have
- Experience working within a K-12 setting.
- OSSE School Service Provider (SSP), National Certified Counselor (NCC), DC Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and/or Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW).

- Strong ability to perform with a high degree of ethical responsibility.

- Strong knowledge of tests used in guidance counseling.
- Strong knowledge of individual and group methods.

- Demonstrated experience with providing counselor services to deaf youth.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and across University departments, outside constituents and groups.
