Responsibilities

  • The Human Resources Specialist - Employee Relations - performs administrative and technical duties for the Employee Relations unit.
  • This includes case management and reporting, employee criminal background checks, driver's eligibility verifications, retention of records, unemployment claim support, and other administrative functions assigned by Employee Relations leadership.
  • Assists Employee Relations unit with employee relations cases, correspondence, and document preparation, to include researching, gathering and organizing documentation
  • Performs administrative work on projects assigned by Employee Relations and executive leadership.
  • Manages, tracks, and reports data related to employee relations activities, including case metrics, federal background checks, and driver eligibility.
  • Supports maintenance of the department's case management systems, ensuring accuracy.
  • Provides administrative support with unemployment claims, including gathering
  • Performs motor vehicle record (MVR) checks, prepares documentation for South Texas College driver eligibility, and coordinates with appropriate departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation.

Requirements

  • Must have or qualify for a valid Texas driver's license and proof of liability insurance.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • At least one (1) year of work experience in similar setting or HR, required.
  • At least one (1) year of experience with data management and administrative support is preferred.
