About the role

  • Job Responsibilities: The applicant will hold a PhD in ecology and have expertise in the analysis of fossil pollen from South American tropical ecosystems.
  • The position will require a mixture of chemical preparation of pollen samples, identification and counting of fossil pollen, data analysis in R, and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students engaged in research.
  • Field work in Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries in South America, where sediment cores will be raised from remote locations, will be expected.

Responsibilities

  • Research associates are expected to coordinate and support students in the development and execution of research tasks and to support faculty investigators, senior researchers, and laboratory personnel.

Requirements

  • Development and editing of scientific manuscripts leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals is required.
  • Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Office of Human Resources prior to the first day of employment.
