About the role

  • University Housing Facilities is looking for an experienced Facilities Assistant Director - Maintenance to join our Team!
  • This position is a key member of the Housing Facilities Leadership Team and assists in planning and providing for the facilities needs of roughly 3 million sq ft of housing and dining space within University Housing.
  • This position provides direction for maintenance operations including preventative maintenance programs and fire/life safety systems and works collaboratively with other leadership team members to provide seamless customer service to our residents and guests.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives
  • Develops and schedules operational work plans for one or more trades units
  • In addition to living spaces, our operations support a wide range of programs and functions, including classrooms, office spaces, dining and culinary operations, marketplace venues, meeting rooms, and event spaces.
  • Advanced knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and building automation systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of a variety of building science concepts.

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of experience in building trades or facilities maintenance.
  • The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial criminal background check to be eligible for employment and then every four years thereafter.
  • Required Qualifications:

Nice to have

  • Experience with asset life cycle planning, UW system procurement, and preventative maintenance setup.
  • Degree in industrial maintenance, construction management, or related field.
  • Proficiency in computer software for tracking work schedules, inventory and purchasing.
  • Proficiency with a CMMS.
  • Experience working in a university setting.
  • Experience working in a residential setting.
  • EPA Refrigerant Handling Certification
  • High School Diploma Preferred minimum

Compensation

  • The starting annual salary is $115,000 or higher based on qualifications with a competitive retirement and benefits package, including vacation, holidays, and paid time off. Benefits information can be found at ( https://hr.wisc.edu/benefits/ )
