About the role

  • May supervise apprentices and less-skilled workers.
  • Provides engineering consultation and installation services for research equipment.
  • Assists in the preparation of reports, analysis and correspondence 8.

Responsibilities

  • Performs on-the-job training of apprentices and less-skilled employees in the plumbing/piped services area.
  • Researches and analyzes new techniques and develops modification approaches.
  • Provides design/build services for underground utilities and building piped systems.
  • Makes scale layouts, manually or using a computer, to provide designs for jobs.
  • Organizes, maintains and cleans job sites, tools and machinery.
  • Incumbents perform other related duties assigned.

Requirements

  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in pipe and installation services including all underground utilities (water, gas, sanitary lines and/or steam) vents, HVAC and related equipment.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Must be able to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery
  • Employees in this classification will be required to report to work or remain at work during inclement weather and/or other campus events or emergencies.
  • Attends all required safety meetings.

Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively; orally, in writing and by computer.
