About the role
- May supervise apprentices and less-skilled workers.
- Provides engineering consultation and installation services for research equipment.
- Assists in the preparation of reports, analysis and correspondence
Responsibilities
- Performs on-the-job training of apprentices and less-skilled employees in the plumbing/piped services area.
- Researches and analyzes new techniques and develops modification approaches.
- Provides design/build services for underground utilities and building piped systems.
- Makes scale layouts, manually or using a computer, to provide designs for jobs.
- Organizes, maintains and cleans job sites, tools and machinery.
Requirements
- Six years of progressively responsible experience in pipe and installation services including all underground utilities (water, gas, sanitary lines and/or steam) vents, HVAC and related equipment.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery
- Employees in this classification will be required to report to work or remain at work during inclement weather and/or other campus events or emergencies.
Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively; orally, in writing and by computer.
- Responsible for maintenance, repair, sharpening, adjustment and safe operation of tools and machinery.
