About the role

  • The Medical Assistant at Hope and Healing Clinic (HHC) plays a vital role in supporting clinic operations by delivering compassionate, high-quality patient care.
  • This position is primarily clinic-based in Tumwater, WA, with shared rotation on our mobile unit which deploys to surrounding communities.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Support
  • Maintain cleanliness, sterility, and organization of clinical equipment and supplies.
  • Create a warm, respectful, and inclusive environment for all patients.
  • Operational Support
  • Ensure daily readiness of clinic space and support mobile unit setup when assigned.
  • Support setup and breakdown of mobile units and collaborate with mobile team members.
  • Partner with providers, clinical staff, and counselors to deliver coordinated care.
  • Support onboarding and mentoring of new team members when appropriate.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and documentation best practices.
  • The position may require early mornings, flexibility with transportation, and the ability to work in compact or community-based care environments.
  • Education & Certification
  • Completion of a Washington State-recognized Medical Assistant training program.
  • Active Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) or Medical Assistant-Registered (MA-R) credential in Washington.
  • Skills & Experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, flexible, and focused in dynamic or emotionally charged environments.
  • Work Environment
  • This role is primarily based at the Tumwater clinic but may involve mobile outreach shifts across surrounding counties. The position may require early mornings, flexibility with transportation, and the ability to work in compact or community-based care environments.
  • Tribal Preference

Nice to have

  • Prior experience in a clinical or addiction recovery setting preferred but not required.

Compensation

  • Prepare exam rooms and assist providers with procedures and clinical visits.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sterility, and organization of clinical equipment and supplies.
  • Create a warm, respectful, and inclusive environment for all patients.
  • Educate patients on care instructions, medications, and follow-up steps in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive manner.
  • Address patient questions and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Ensure daily readiness of clinic space and support mobile unit setup when assigned.
