About the role

  • As a Senior Clinical Operations Asset Director, you will provide strategic leadership across one or more development assets spanning solid tumors and hematologic malignancies, helping shape Disease Area strategy and the future of Clinical Operations.
  • Represent Clinical Operations in governance, enterprise initiatives, and external collaborations, influencing strategic priorities across Roche and advancing new ways of working.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the operational strategy for one or more early development assets, ensuring alignment with clinical development objectives, portfolio priorities, and enterprise strategy.
  • Serve as the Clinical Operations representative on cross-functional asset teams, influencing study design, operational planning, feasibility, timelines, and execution strategies.
  • Drive operational excellence by developing scalable processes, innovative solutions, and best practices that improve delivery, quality, cost, and speed across programs.
  • Partner with Therapeutic Area leadership and key stakeholders to identify risks, guide strategic decisions, and ensure consistent execution across the disease area.
  • Build and strengthen Clinical Operations capabilities through organizational leadership, workforce planning, talent development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance leadership while fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture.
  • Early Clinical Development (ECD) Clinical Operations partners across Research & Development to advance innovative medicines from first-in-human studies through proof-of-concept.
  • Our team provides strategic operational leadership that shapes development plans, drives execution excellence, and enables high-quality, efficient clinical trials.
  • We work across disease areas, functions, and geographies to deliver scalable operational solutions, build organizational capabilities, and accelerate the development of transformative therapies for patients.
  • You will support a diverse portfolio of innovative therapeutic modalities, including cancer immunotherapies, bispecific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), cell and gene therapies, and other emerging oncology platforms.

Requirements

  • 14+ years of clinical development or related pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience, including significant experience in early clinical development.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with the ability to balance scientific, operational, financial, and organizational priorities.
  • Experience leading organizational change, implementing scalable operational improvements, and driving innovation, including digital or AI-enabled solutions.

Compensation

  • The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $215,000 - $399,400.
